[Consciously, he knows he'd be safe up here even if the lion was aggressive. His adrenaline response, however, doesn't care. It's only his undead status that keeps his heart from pounding, his breath from racing. His wings fold around him defensively, and he squints his eyes shut.

He's not calling it quits yet, but it seems like he needs a moment before he tries again.]

[He isn't surprised, truthfully. Given what he's pieced together and what he's been told... it's only natural that Goro's instincts are telling him to avoid Shido.

But patiently, he goes back to lying on his side, not moving except for the gentle up and down movement of his stomach as he breathes.]

[It takes him several minutes, but he manages to calm himself down. There's a moment of hesitation before he drops down from the roof, landing in a crouch with one hand on the ground and wings tucked to his back.]

[This time, Shido doesn't move to look at him. Instead he continues lying there, letting his eyes slip shut.

[He dusts himself off as he stands, taking a deep breath. Then he inches a bit closer, back to where he was when Shido sneezed.]

[Shido continues to lie very still. The only motion that happens, aside from his breathing, of course, is an ear flick when a bug buzzes around it.

[He tries to take another step forward, but...maybe it's a little much. He winds up backing off instead. It's not enough to calm him down, but when he considers backing further away, a stubborn resolve fills him. His hands ball into fists at his side as he shakes his head.

What kind of Persona user is he, giving in to his fear like this? Briefly, the idea of using Robin Hood's resistance to status ailments flickers through his head, but...no. He wants to try this without any sort of supernatural defense against fear first. And so, it's through sheer, stubborn will that he takes a few steps forward.]

[Well, seeing as Shido still honestly has difficulty sleeping? The urge to give into a nap is growing stronger and stronger... and.. Goro doesn't necessarily need for him to do anything other than lie here, right?

[Is he...snoring? Well, he guess it must be pretty boring just lying there. After a moment to compose himself, he pushes forward, only pausing when he realizes he's barely staying calm. Maybe he should quit while he's ahead...at this point, it's only his stubborn determination keeping his composure intact.

He...probably shouldn't just leave Shido sleeping out here, though. He steels himself, then tries to raise his voice...but it comes out wavering and hesitant.]

Y-you should probably go inside, if you want to nap.

[Even though the voice is soft and unsteady, it still cuts clear through the light nap he'd dozed off into, and he blinks, looking over, eyes squinting groggily at his son. He nevertheless transforms back into a human and gets up off the ground. Oof... He really needs to somehow start sleeping better...

Regardless, he does come over to Goro and manages a small, encouraging smile.]

Not bad at all for a first time.

[He visibly relaxes when Shido changes back, wiping his brow as the older man approaches. Even his feathers smooth down on his wings.]

If nothing else, you shouldn't underestimate a Persona user's stubbornness.

I'm not surprised. You're a very tenacious young man.

[For a moment, Shido pauses and just... takes Goro in. Takes his son in. He actually... honestly hasn't really had the chance to do this yet, in between everything. So much happening, so little time had passed since he arrived, so much tension was still unresolved...

Yet at the moment Goro is in a calm and relaxed state, his two white wings folded neatly against his back, the slight iridescence shining in the sun. He's healthy, strong, and doing well. It's...

Despite all the other shit that's happened in Shido's life, from the heartbreak to the murder to all the political bullshit to the change of heart... something in him genuinely eases.

Goro isn't completely okay, he knows he isn't, and there's still so much he needs to address, but Shido feels like... he will be okay.

So uh... hey, Goro, did you ever expect to see Shido looking at you with such open fondness and pride?]

[...He did not, no. For a brief moment, there's something almost like innocence in his eyes, like the look of a normal child being praised by an authority figure. Then it's gone, replaced by a huff that even fluffs his feathers...though the way his face turns red might give away the fact that he's embarrassed rather than genuinely angry.]

Tenacious enough to not fall asleep while I'm waiting for something, at least.

[He blinks when he's called out, then averts his gaze briefly, slightly embarrassed himself.]

Yes, well... My sleeping patterns haven't improved much. I used to take a sleeping aid to help with the nightmares, but... I stopped after my Change of Heart.

I can count the number of nights that I've had uninterrupted, peaceful sleep since I got here on one hand.

I'm surprised anything even bothered you enough to cause nightmares before your Change of Heart.

You'd be surprised. For all the rationalizing I did... I suppose a part of me deep down knew what a monster I was being. There were... things I would think about and couldn't stop thinking about. Not unless I was preoccupied... with work, with drink or with a woman.

[He's quiet for a moment, silently smoothing his feathers back down with his fingers.]

...Honestly, I've been surprised by you a lot. I...used to think you were simply pure evil, but I can't say I didn't have a strong bias.

[Another pause, before he speaks up almost cautiously.]

You know, the winged cats in the forest produce a honey that causes dreamless sleep.

[He quietly contemplates for a moment, then looks at the forest contemplatively, before he looks back at Goro.]

[Well, looks like he'll have to go to the kitchen to get some sort of container for the honey, right...? So, he's going to do that and is... definitely not even... slightly brisk about making his way there???]
